The situation
Peri is a wearable health product combining a connected device, mobile application and cloud platform to capture physiological data and support women through perimenopause.
Threadable turned Peri’s invested vision into a viable, secure and scalable connected-health product. The complete device-to-cloud platform now processes millions of physiological data points, supports hardware and software sold worldwide, and continues to evolve under Threadable’s technology leadership.
What made the work complex
01
Connected wearable R&D
The device had to be optimised for physical size, sensor sampling frequency, battery life and reliable operation while remaining practical for continuous real-world use.
02
Intermittent connectivity and high-volume data
The system needed to capture, compress and temporarily retain large volumes of physiological data when phone connectivity was unavailable, then synchronise it reliably when the connection returned.
03
Secure health-data platform
The mobile, messaging, cloud and backend architecture was designed from the ground up around sensitive health data, scalability, operational governance and dependable processing.
Threadable’s role
Wearable and platform architecture
Threadable designed the end-to-end system spanning the wearable device, mobile application, MQTT-based data transfer, backend services, cloud infrastructure and operational tooling.
Device-to-cloud engineering
We solved the practical engineering challenges around sampling frequency, battery life, data compression, local buffering, intermittent connectivity and reliable synchronisation from the wearable through the phone to the cloud.
Delivery governance and capability support
Threadable applied delivery governance across hardware, mobile, backend, data and infrastructure work, coordinating decisions, quality controls, release readiness and the dependencies required to move a novel connected-health product into production.
Ongoing technology leadership
Threadable continues to guide the platform’s architecture and evolution as the product grows, including the current design of FHIR-based integration with clinical systems.
How the work came together
Pressure
Peri needed to transform an invested product vision into a reliable commercial wearable, while solving device constraints, intermittent connectivity, high-volume physiological data, sensitive health information and a completely new digital platform.
Threadable role
Threadable led the technology architecture and engineering from the ground up, spanning wearable R&D, mobile software, data compression and synchronisation, MQTT messaging, secure cloud infrastructure, backend services, delivery governance and ongoing technology leadership.
Resulting capability
A secure connected-health platform now operating behind launched hardware and software products sold worldwide, with an architecture designed to evolve into deeper clinical-system integration.
Outcomes and impact
Threadable turned Peri’s invested vision into a viable, secure and scalable connected-health product. The complete device-to-cloud platform now processes millions of physiological data points, supports hardware and software sold worldwide, and continues to evolve under Threadable’s technology leadership.
A commercial product brought to life
The wearable, mobile application and backend platform progressed from concept and R&D into launched products available to customers worldwide.
Complex data made operational
Millions of sensor data points can be captured, compressed, buffered through temporary connectivity loss and processed securely across the mobile and cloud platform.
A foundation for continued clinical integration
The platform was designed for long-term evolution, with Threadable now architecting FHIR-based integration with clinical systems as the product matures.

Market context
Connected-health products must combine constrained wearable hardware, reliable mobile synchronisation, secure cloud processing and sensitive health-data governance. Commercial success depends on these components working as one dependable product rather than as separate technical experiments.
Client perspective
Our collaboration with Threadable has been nothing short of excellent. Their technical prowess, proactive approach, and commitment to quality turned our concept into a robust, user-friendly solution that exceeded expectations.

What mattered
The product ambition
Peri set out to create a connected wearable that could capture physiological signals and help women understand and manage perimenopause. The challenge was not simply to build an application: the wearable, mobile experience, data pipeline, cloud platform and security model all had to be created as one viable commercial system.
Wearable research and engineering
Significant R&D was required to optimise the device for size, sensor data-collection frequency and battery life. Threadable helped shape how data would be sampled, compressed and transferred so the product could collect useful information without making the wearable impractical to use.
Reliable data through imperfect connectivity
The platform was engineered to handle temporary loss of connectivity between the wearable and the phone. Data is collected in chunks, retained safely and synchronised when communication becomes available again, protecting continuity without requiring a permanent connection.
A secure device-to-cloud platform
Threadable implemented the mobile, MQTT messaging, backend and cloud-infrastructure components required to receive, process and manage millions of physiological data points. Security, access control, operational governance and scalability were designed into the platform from the outset.
Commercial launch and continued evolution
The resulting hardware and software products are launched and sold worldwide, realising the product vision supported by Peri’s investors. Threadable remains involved in technology leadership and platform evolution, including the current architecture and design of FHIR-based integration with clinical systems.
