Problems addressed

Technology strategy and architecture were not yet aligned to Wellola’s commercial ambition

Delivery lacked the cadence, controls and automation required for enterprise-scale healthcare work

The business needed demonstrable information-security governance and ISO 27001 readiness

Impact

ISO 27001 achieved

Governance, security controls and delivery evidence established to support successful certification

The situation

Wellola provides secure digital patient engagement and care-pathway technology for hospitals, clinics and healthcare organisations.

Threadable helped turn Wellola’s ambition into executable capability. By aligning technology strategy, architecture, engineering, QA, release management and information-security governance, we created the foundation for faster delivery, ISO 27001 certification and credible engagement with major healthcare organisations. Wellola subsequently expanded across Ireland and the UK, secured deployments with major NHS organisations and raised €2.2 million in 2024, bringing total funding at that point to €4 million.

What made the work complex

01

Ambition ahead of delivery capability

Wellola had a strong market vision and growing demand, but needed a technology strategy, architecture and delivery model capable of turning that ambition into dependable execution.

02

Enterprise healthcare expectations

Hospitals and large healthcare organisations required stronger evidence of security, governance, reliability and operational maturity before adopting the platform.

03

Platform and team transformation

The engagement needed to improve the architecture and infrastructure while also changing how product, engineering, QA, security and releases were governed day to day.

Threadable’s role

Technology strategy and roadmap

Threadable translated Wellola’s commercial ambition into a practical technology strategy, product roadmap and sequence of platform priorities.

Architecture and engineering foundations

We designed and implemented the base architecture needed for secure, maintainable and scalable healthcare delivery, while addressing the technical constraints limiting speed and confidence.

Delivery governance and capability support

Threadable introduced a complete delivery operating model spanning product management, engineering, QA, release management, ownership, prioritisation and visibility, then trained the Wellola team to work effectively within it.

Infrastructure, security and release automation

We automated infrastructure and code delivery, embedded information-security controls and created repeatable release processes that supported ISO 27001 certification and enterprise procurement expectations.

How the work came together

Pressure

Growing demand created a narrow window for Wellola to become enterprise-ready. The platform and team needed stronger architecture, faster execution, more reliable releases and demonstrable information-security governance.

Threadable role

Threadable reviewed the technology function, defined the strategy and roadmap, redesigned the architecture, automated infrastructure and deployment, introduced delivery governance from product management through release management, and trained the internal team.

Resulting capability

Wellola gained an enterprise-ready technology function able to release more quickly, operate with stronger quality and governance, achieve ISO 27001 certification and respond more confidently to healthcare customer and market demands.

Outcomes and impact

Threadable helped turn Wellola’s ambition into executable capability. By aligning technology strategy, architecture, engineering, QA, release management and information-security governance, we created the foundation for faster delivery, ISO 27001 certification and credible engagement with major healthcare organisations. Wellola subsequently expanded across Ireland and the UK, secured deployments with major NHS organisations and raised €2.2 million in 2024, bringing total funding at that point to €4 million.

Enterprise readiness established

Architecture, security controls, infrastructure and delivery practices were brought to the level expected by hospitals, healthcare organisations and enterprise procurement teams.

Delivery capability transformed

Product, engineering, QA and release management were connected through a repeatable operating model that improved cadence, visibility, quality and team independence.

Commercial growth supported

The stronger technology and governance foundation enabled Wellola to respond more quickly to market demand, support major healthcare deployments and scale with greater confidence.

Market context

Demand for digital patient engagement accelerated rapidly, but hospitals and enterprise healthcare organisations required suppliers to demonstrate mature security, governance, reliability and delivery capability. Wellola later reported major NHS deployments, a €2.2 million funding round in 2024 and €4 million in total funding at that point.

Client perspective

Partnering with Threadable has been a great experience. Their deep technical knowledge, attention to detail, and dedication to our project's success made them an invaluable part of our journey.

What mattered

The starting point

Wellola had significant ambition and growing market opportunity, but its technology strategy, architecture and delivery capability needed to mature quickly. The challenge was not simply to improve code; it was to create an operating model capable of turning commercial opportunity into secure, dependable product delivery.

From review to transformation

Threadable was initially asked to review the technology function. The engagement expanded into defining the technology strategy and roadmap, strengthening the architecture, automating infrastructure and deployment, and introducing governance across product management, engineering, QA and release management.

Building enterprise-grade delivery

We established clear ownership, planning and quality gates; introduced repeatable release processes; improved visibility of priorities and risks; and trained the Wellola team to deliver within the new architecture and operating model rather than remaining dependent on Threadable.

Supporting ISO 27001 certification

Threadable materially contributed the technical controls, delivery processes, governance practices and operational evidence required for a mature information-security management environment. The work supported Wellola in achieving ISO 27001 certification and presenting stronger assurance to enterprise healthcare buyers.

A foundation for growth

Wellola went on to expand across Ireland and the UK, secure deployments with major NHS organisations, enter strategic partnerships and raise further investment. These later results are presented as evidence of the scale and maturity the improved technology function was built to support, not as outcomes attributable to Threadable alone.
